Preparing for Research Activities at Field Station
Experimental site undergoing desertification

The Niger Field Station was established in August 2012 in Niamey, the capital city of Niger, as a field station of Kyoto University. It serves as a research base for Kyoto University, hosting research projects, NGOs, and aid activities, as well as providing graduate student supervision, organizing field schools, and facilitating exchanges with local researchers, officials from Niger’s Ministry of the Environment, local staff, and community members. Since the coup d’état in July 2023, research activities by Kyoto University researchers have been suspended at present.
